Wowza! 2012 is at an end. How did this happen? I managed to meet my Fiber Arts goals including at least one project on the sewing machine. As I went through the photos of all the projects I completed this year, I kept thinking there should have been more ;-) I may have a serious problem. Overall, not too bad for someone who works full time, raises kids and has a farm. I do admit that each of these Fiber Arts Projects are what keep me in check and sane.
I'm very pleased with my knitting tally. According to my knitmeter if I actually entered in everything then I knit 5170 yards of yarn. 27 projects including two pair of socks and one shawl.
As for spinning. I don't have as many skeins in years past but I was working on spinning 3 ply yarns and working on more yardage for each skein. I kept track of the yardage but not how many pounds I spun. Maybe next year. According to my spinmeter, I spun 14774 yards of yarn.
I didn't get a chance to felt much this year ;-) I was a bit busy, I guess. So these were my only projects. I must make more time to felt in 2013.
Now, I was very pleased with my weaving for 2012. I didn't keep track of yardage. I have a lot of plans for 2013. I have some new techniques that I am going to incorporate besides the colorwork I've already been weaving.
Farm life? We had a very long hot Summer where we stressed over the rising price of hay and the drought that damaged our pastures. We did have some Alpaca sales. We went from 15 Alpacas down to nine. There are mixed blessings because I miss these members of our herd but also happy that we were able to sell animals in this rough economic year. Our farm did gain two Geese whom we named Wonder and Why. They are doing their job guarding the chickens and turkeys. We also have three Nigerian Dwarf Goats named Willow, Loki and Scarlett. They are a true enjoyment and their presence has given the farm a whole new level of Wonder.
So, what will 2013 bring? Who knows other than at my farm it will be full of Wonder, Fiber Arts and Friendship. Thank you to everyone who visits my blog each week. Thank you for making 2012 an amazing year and may 2013 be full of rich pastures, beautiful fleeces and lots of goats milk.
